The opening reception at The Lightner Museum for the Dressing Downton™ Exhibition set the tone for the exhibit. St. Augustine is the last stop for this amazing collection of clothing for the popular show, Downton Abbey®. With the Ice Plant distillery handing out samples of the drink of the night upon entering, champagne flowing and everyone dressed in 1920’s outfits, it was a great event! A New York-based band, conducted by Michael Arenella played the music of the era and completed the feeling of the early 1920’s. The museum went all out, staging the clothing with the appropriate props to set the stage. The clothes are exquisite and many people will actually remember seeing the clothing because it is so beautiful!
The Lightner Museum will play host to an exquisite collection of 36 original costume pieces on the award-winning television series. The exhibit is open now through January 7, 2018, so if you are close to St. Augustine, you don’t want to miss this exquisite collection from the show. This exhibit will show through the popular nights of lights in St. Augustine.
Dressing Downton™ has been a highly successful traveling exhibition that began at the Biltmore Estate in February of 2015 and will culminate here in St. Augustine, Florida at the Lightner Museum. The show has received 59 Emmy® nominations, more than any other non-US show in Emmy® history and is one of the most honored series on television.
There will be themed events throughout the city including afternoon teas and more.
